One Facebook, Two Worlds, Three Problems

Let’s confuse the algorithms.
Let’s consult news sources and websites from people on the other side of the aisle.
Let’s become experts at recognizing the slant in the news and commentary we come across, whether it be from the right or the left.
Let’s reject the tendency to assume the worst in our political opponents and take umbrage at every perceived slight.

7 Reasons Very Active Church Members Drop Out

Though there are certainly far more reasons, I am listing the top seven reasons I heard from these formerly active members. For now, I will not make qualitative or analytical comments about their decisions. These top seven reasons are listed in order by the frequency I heard them.

Unprecedented!

Thompson is right: we need to begin, if we want to understand Paul and the church, with this corporate identity. “I” becomes “We” in the hands of Paul. Many people like this idea today until the “I” is no longer like their “I” and means including some in the “We” who are totally different. Liberals and conservatives, conservatives and liberals all in a “We” that outdoes the comfortable “I.”
To be church, folks, means to let “my” identity be reformed into a “we” identity in which those in the “we” are not chosen by “me” but by God and brought into fellowship with my “me” to form not a club of similars but a fellowship of differents.

Me Before You: Dear Hollywood, Why Do You Want Me Dead?

My legs don’t work. I am crippled. It’s just a fact of my life, and you need to get over it. Political correctness is around to make the Able Bodies more comfortable with the idea of me — it’s not for me. If you really cared about what I thought and wanted to treat me like a person, then you wouldn’t make movies about how the nicest thing I could do for my family would be to off myself. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Giving up class time for regular, short recess breaks seems like an exchange that pays off well, because after recess kids learn more efficiently and enthusiastically when they are in class than they would if they were just strapped to their desks all day.
