Not for sale

not-for-rentIn a comment this week, someone warned me that my thoughts may not be convenient to me financially. I’m well aware of that. If I wanted to be more popular, I would go with what sells. Praise the U.S. and the G.O.P. Make fun of global warming, Obama, etc. Dump on those who make tough decisions about whom to include in church directories. Criticize anyone who chooses to stand up for traditional doctrines. Talk about feeding people and building houses and avoid talking about evangelism…

I know what plays in Peoria.

Unfortunately, I’m committed to teach the truth as I see it. Not what’s popular. Not what’s trendy. Not what’s convenient or comfortable. As a friend of mine pledged when accepting the role of pulpit minister at a certain congregation: “I will teach the Word of God no matter the personal cost.”

This space is not for rent nor for sale.

A refreshing stance, fewer and fewer poeple are committed to the truth regardless of repercussions nowadays… Bravo! In terms of making fun of Obama and global warming being popular and “selling well,” I’m not sure that’s an accurate assesment. I guess it would depend on where you get your news… So far he’s been untouchable, with all time high popularity and public approval. And people making fun of global warming, or those who say it doesn’t exist are regarded as being backwards and narrow-minded, not the other way around… The GOP is on life support right now, they’re scrambling to get some new minority blood in there, with all these people jumping off the wagon. It may be a generational thing, but to say that Obama bashing is popular right now is a bit of a stretch.

    Thanks, James.

Gabe, I’m talking about what plays well in the Church of Christ blogosphere.

    Grace and peace,

Oh I see… I’m talking about the real world. I wonder what the blogosphere’s point of reference is… :) but I can see your point.

Tim, right on bro, it is a sin how much gossip goes on in the “churches of Christ” but you need to realize it is righteous gossip. :)

God bless you. Preach the word, plant the seed, and let God give the increase. He never said you would be popular preaching what He has left for us. He wants all to be saved, but He did not say all would be saved, only those who obey Him. Were you talking about gossip? I thought you were talking about preaching and evangelism, not about “dumping” on anyone or any “pet peeve.”
