Out of Hiding

And we continued to hide. On Sundays, we drove the 30 minutes to the big city and parked in the lot next to that building but only because my grandfather was the minister. It didn’t matter that mom had donned a wig to drive through the liquor store the night before. It didn’t matter that she allowed and encouraged her young children to also drink. All that mattered was that we were there. On a pew. Hiding in front of everyone.

10 Things I Love About the Churches of Christ

I deeply resonate with the metaphor employed by Leroy Garrett about his place in Churches of Christ: A Lover’s Quarrel.
He describes it this way:

“I love the Churches of Christ too much to leave, and too much to leave them alone.”

I couldn’t have said it better myself.

The 10 Things I Try To Do To Be Sanctified By The 10 Things I Hate To Admit

Therefore while I would love to title this follow-up, “The 10 Solutions To The 10 Things Pastors Hate To Admit Publicly.” the reality is that only the Resurrection will accomplish that task. Now does that mean we just throw our hands in the air with an apathetic, “Well that sucks!”? We can, but it’s not a very fruitful way to move forward: for while we may never eradicate every insecurity in life, we can be sanctified through every situation of life.
So with a more personal perspective here are “The 10 Things I Try To Do To Be Sanctified By The 10 Things I Hate To Admit.”

Doctors say they’re increasingly fielding questions about the safety of marijuana, as use of the drug rises and more communities consider legalizing it. Colorado and Washington state have legalized recreational marijuana, and medical use is allowed in 21 states and Washington, D.C.

Oklahoma woman allegedly calls police to complain that her meth was ‘laced’

The 54-year-old allegedly called police because she thought her “ice” was laced with something. When an officer arrived to check it out, Sampson reportedly said, “I’m glad you came.”
During the course of their interaction, Sampson allegedly showed the officer multiple areas where she had meth stashed. She also admitted to using the drug and was “hearing things and sweating profusely.”
