Blogging

monkey typingI was at the Faulkner University lectures last week and got to meet a few people that I’ve only known via Internet. One of them was Matthew Morine, another longtime blogger.

Matthew mentioned that he feels that, in some ways, blogging is losing its steam. I think that depends on the subject, but I think it’s true for a lot of “preacher blogs.” Many are finding other social media more conducive to interaction.

I don’t know that I’ve ever stated it, but I’ve definitely changed my approach to blogging. I used to want to have something up every weekday, no matter what. Frankly, if you’re on a drive to increase readership and keep “your numbers” up, that’s the way to do it.

I still enjoy interaction, but my goals have changed. This blog is largely for me to work through thoughts and ideas, not a platform for expounding all of the wisdom I’ve accumulated in my half century of life. Because of that, I’ll write things of substance when I have time to interact with those commenting. When I don’t, I don’t mind a bit of silence.

All of that should be obvious, but what’s obvious to one person isn’t always obvious to another. Anyway, thanks for reading. And be patient… I don’t expect to get back to anything of substance until the end of the month.
