Not my thoughts, nor necessarily thoughts I agree with. The following links are offered to make you think (or maybe make you laugh)

Young Iraqi Christian Refugee Forgives ISIS for Displacing Family, Hopes for a Future Without Wars

“Yes I forgive them,” Myriam told ABC News “20/20” co-anchor Elizabeth Vargas, adding that “as Jesus said ‘forgive each other, love each other the way I love you,’ that is what we need to learn. Forgiveness.”

The Danger of Partisan Christianity

We shouldn’t be afraid to get involved in politics or discussions about political issues. But, while forming our judgements and opinions, we can’t be such a slave to a label that we lose sight of something Jesus wanted His Church not to forget: Yes, we are called to build a Kingdom, but this Kingdom is from another place.

The Simple Visual Test That Might Predict Political Views

They found that the more conservative views a person endorsed, the more likely they were to differentiate between perfect shapes and their ambiguously imperfect counterparts—like a triangle that’s just a little rounded or a slightly wobbly circle. In other words, conservatives were more sensitive to deviance from the visual standard, just as they might be more sensitive to deviance from social norms.

The fascinating history of how Jefferson and other Founding Fathers defended Muslim rights

A number of the Founding Fathers explicitly mentioned Muslims — along with other believers outside the prevailing Protestant mainstream — as they outlined the parameters of religious freedom and equal protection.

Carey Nieuwhof: How Pastoral Care Stunts Church Growth

Therefore, I’m not surprised that Nieuwhof recommends providing pastoral care through a small group ministry. When a member is in the hospital, friends from her small group can providing babysitting, stay up the night watching over her, drive her home, bring clothes and such from her house, bring her food, fill in for her at church for her volunteer duties … the list is endless. One elder can’t provide nearly the care that a small group does naturally. There’s strength in numbers.

I am what I’ve been through

I’m not angry that I have cancer. This experience is purposeful for me and so many blessings have come from it. The year 2015 has been an odd one for me and Troy. He’s had two surgeries – a foot surgery and an appendectomy. And now we’re going through this. Some people wonder why my family has had to go through so many health issues and the accompanying struggles. Without these struggles I wouldn’t have been able to see just how amazingly generous people can be. I wouldn’t be uplifted by the prayers of so many people who I know and don’t know. I wouldn’t have connected with friends from the past. I wouldn’t have grown closer to the ladies in my church group. I have had cards and little gifts from people I barely know and it is so humbling. I wouldn’t have met so many new, wonderful people. I never would have known just how great the chemo nurses at Stoddard are. And I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to write about all of it.

C.S. Lewis Was a Secret Government Agent

And what did an Oxford don have to say that might help turn the tide of war in Britain’s darkest hour? He spoke on the subject “The Norse Spirit in English Literature.” Lewis provided a touchstone between the Norse people and the English, which Lewis made clear in his first recorded statement.

Why Charles M. Schulz Gave Peanuts A Black Character (1968)

But I never paid any attention to those things, and I remember telling [United Features president] Larry [Rutman] at the time about Franklin—he wanted me to change it, and we talked about it for a long while on the phone, and I finally sighed and said, ‘Well, Larry, let’s put it this way: Either you print it just the way I draw it or I quit. How’s that?’ So that’s the way that ended….

Tokyo’s solution to rogue drones? Drones with nets

Rather than using a dragnet on the ground, the anti-drone drone will use an actual net* to scoop up suspects and carry them away to safety. That may sound like it’s being done for the LOLs, but it’s deadly serious — officers found a drone carrying radioactive material on the roof of the country’s prime minister back in April.

Lettuce is ‘three times worse than bacon’ for emissions and vegetarian diets could be bad for environment

Lettuce is “over three times worse in greenhouse gas emissions than eating bacon”, according to researchers from the Carnegie Mellon University who analysed the impact per calorie of different foods in terms of energy cost, water use and emissions.
