Former Military Chief: Iraq War Was A ‘Failure’ That Helped Create ISIS

Following the 9/11 attacks, the U.S. invaded Iraq in 2003 based on sketchy evidence presented by the Bush administration that linked weapons of mass destruction and terrorist organization Al Qaeda to former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein. The fall of Hussein resulted in chaos and led to a power vacuum in the region that terrorist organizations, like the Islamic State, have taken advantage of.

A tale of two Colorado Springs media streams: crazed gunman vs. anti-abortion soldier

Personally, I tire of reading about crazed killers who go on shooting rampages. I understand why some victims’ relatives wish the media would stop naming mass murderers and making them infamous. At the same time, I identify with the strong arguments for naming the shooter and reporting responsibly on his crimes.

When leagues pay for patriotic acts, sports fans cover the cost

The real question is why both sides — the military and the billion-dollar sports industry — feel this embedding is necessary. Maybe fans should again be allowed to watch a game without having to guess when they’re being recruited by the National Guard, and maybe instead of billionaires profiting off veterans, the best way to honor returning soldiers is to hire them.

‘Unprecedented’: What ISIS Looks Like In America

Looking at 71 people who’ve been indicted in the U.S. for ISIS-related activities, Vidino and his colleagues say that except for seven suspects whose legal residency status hasn’t been determined, “the vast majority of individuals charged are U.S. citizens (58) or permanent residents (6), underscoring the homegrown nature of the threat.”

Many people during this time of year think more about God than any other five week period, so redeem the time. I think this is the best option. With this approach we have all the good attributes of the third and add to them a reminder that we (as followers of Christ) have the responsibility to spread the gospel in season and out of season. We talk a lot about speaking out of season, lets not forget to speak in season (and with seasoning – cf. Col 4:6) as well.

Paranoid Pensioner Buries Life Savings Underground; Cash Gets Eaten By Worms

Poor Wu Chen, 67, stashed the cash in a carrier bag five years ago, feeling sure it would be safe.
But when he recently came to make a withdrawal he found that insects had been feasting on his funds and there wasn’t a lot left.

“I’m going to kill you,” Man screaming at spider prompts neighbors to call police

Authorities with the Harbourside LAC Police Department explained that neighbors heard him yelling death threats, screaming and the crash of furniture.
“It was a spider,” the man explained. “A really big one.”
“What about the [woman] screaming?” the policeman asked.
“Yeah, sorry, that was me,” he said. “I really, really hate spiders.”
